Jay Kirkland comes from a US Air Force family and relocated to East Atlanta from Hall County, Georgia almost 6 years ago. With a degree in geology from Georgia State University, he works as a consulting environmental scientist. Since becoming a neighbor, he's volunteered with The Nature Conservancy of Georgia, as well as in caring for Brownwood Park. Jay previously served in an 8-month academic internship at Trees Atlanta, where he worked with their Neighborwoods and urban forest restoration programs. Jay formerly co-chaired the EACA Parks and Greenspace Committee in 2015, where he leveraged his relationship with Trees Atlanta to facilitate forest succession planting and invasive weed control initiatives now underway in Brownwood Park.
Not only are Jay and Alex devoted in their vision and service to the stewardship of East Atlanta's public spaces and natural resources, but - residing at the same Stokeswood Avenue address - they are also devoted to each other in marriage.
