It’s easy to overlook special treasures in plain site. When you're headed north on Flat Shoals Ave. viewing all the eclectic businesses of East Atlanta Village, visit Versus ATL, EACA’s Featured Business of the Month for July. Located at 493 Flat Shoals Ave, Versus ATL is a combination of vintage memorabilia, streetwear, featuring a unique mix of classic with sprinkles of an urban feel, with an added little splash of suburbia chill. There’s hip hop regalia, vintage toys and memorabilia, contemporary art and clothing. Visiting Versus ATL is an East Atlanta Village experience you shouldn't ignore. My first visit I found myself having throwback feelings from my childhood; waking up Saturday morning to a box of Wheaties cereal with Michael Jordan on the box - which is sold there.
Versus ATL was started by Leo Roberts, Danny Perez, and John Humbles. It has been in East Atlanta Village for over 2 years. These 3 entrepreneurs, ranging from 23 to 28 years chose East Atlanta Village because of the look and feel, the foot traffic, community activities and an untapped market for their niche.
Along with managing the EAV location, you’ll find them at national trade shows, conventions or producing a creative pop up store. These entrepreneurs are pretty busy to say the least. Which isn't a bad look for such young entrepreneurs looking to corner “buy, trade and sale” market.
Enjoy sports? Versus ATL offers sports novelty memorabilia that ranges from the collection of vintage sports cards, equipment, to life size posters of hall of famers like Larry Bird, to a bobblehead doll of Hulk Hogan and his 21 inch pythons. Ohhhhh yeahhhh. It’s a sports collector’s sugar overload!
Want a piece of Atlanta history? Make an offer on actual seats from 1996 Summer Olympics, Olympic Pins, Banners or the classic framed Olympic Bomber Jacket.
Want to spend a nice evening at home and need entertainment? Take a trip down Memory Lane with a VHS tape of one of your favorite 80’s or 90’s classic movie. Or get your groove on with and The King of Pop on cassette.
Going out for a night of fun? Get your wear from where some of the the national Hip Hop and contemporary artists get their clothing for their movies, videos and everyday “chic”.
It's just a matter of time before customers are lining the front of Versus ATL awaiting the chance to get the newest oldie but goodie items for sale. The next time you're strolling the Village, stop by Versus. Give yourself plenty time to enjoy. Bring the family as you take a trip down memory lane check out Versus ATL. You are invited to attend EACA’s July meeting on Tuesday, July 9 at 7pm. During the meeting attendees can hear updates from EACA committees, hear about the latest development projects, details on neighborhood events, and members will vote on land use, zoning, and alcohol license applications.
Keep your Independence Day celebration close to home. The East Atlanta Strut is bringing a professional fireworks show to the village on the Fourth of July at 9:30 p.m. There will be a viewing area set up on Glenwood Avenue in front of Holy Taco, 1314 Glenwood.
Mayhem on Milton Place has a new date - Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 2 pm to 8 pm! Come meet your neighbors, bring some food for the potluck, and enjoy the unique culture of East Atlanta.
NPU-W unanimously passed two resolutions concerning the proposal to exchange about 50 acres of Entrenchment Creek Greenspace for privately owned, partially cleared land. These resolutions outline the community's concerns and contain links to the deeds and documents cited. EACA members are encouraged to make their opinions about this proposal known to our DeKalb County Commissioners.
EACA's Land Use and Zoning Committee is hosting an information session about the Bouldercrest Triangle historic small business district - current status and proposed zoning changes. Please RSVP.
EACA's Transportation Committee will be meeting soon after a lengthy hiatus, and we need you! Are you concerned about pedestrian safety? More and better bike lanes? Do you have ideas about upcoming road projects in East Atlanta? Do you want those metal plates paved over? Together, we are more effective advocates. East Atlanta Security Patrol (EASP) is increasing patrols in East Atlanta for the summer months and would like to extend a special offer to new members. Join before May 24 and your membership will begin in time for extra patrols during the Memorial Day holiday. That’s over 1 month of free membership! EASP employs off-duty Zone Six police officers to perform additional patrols within the East Atlanta community. All patrol officers are armed, in uniform, with full arrest powers.

Neighbor in Need is partnering with ASW Distillery for our first Whiskey Giveback event hosted on April 18th where a percentage of all alcohol and ASW product sales will be donated to Neighbor in Need East Atlanta!
