EACA Meet & Greet at BPA Orchard Birthday Party - April 12

EACA is excited to host another fun meet & greet at the Burgess-Peterson Academy’s orchard birthday party taking place this Friday, April 12. The Georgia Organics event officially at 3:30pm with a free fruit tree class led by Ranger Robby. EACA will be providing free mocktails using herbs grown in the BPA Garden for a 5 pm to 7 pm ‘happy hour’ and there will be activities for all age levels; including a mural painting and seed-bomb making for the kiddos, a community potluck, and of course, birthday cake.

East Atlanta Easter Egg Hunt & Festival - April 13

Hop into the Spring season with the annual East Atlanta Easter Egg Hunt & Festival hosted by East Atlanta Kids Club on Saturday, April 13 from 10am - 12:30pm at Brownwood Park. This is a fun community-wide event for kids of all ages with the egg hunt, egg decorating, crafts, games, and lots of sweet treats! Many ways to help, either as a volunteer or make a monetary donation.

The Strut Gives Back to Our Community

East Atlanta Strut has donated $40,000 to more than 40 worthy causes in the East Atlanta community through its Neighborhood Good Grant program. With funds going to early childhood organizations, elementary schools, high schools, senior citizen groups and a historic cemetery, the Strut is quite literally supporting East Atlanta residents from the cradle to the grave.

Update on 1533 Van Epps Ave SE

The City of Atlanta's Department of Public Works will be performing an extensive clean-up of the hoarding situation outside the home located at 1533 Van Epps Ave SE. This activity will occur no earlier than April 29th and will result in a large exodus of rodents, which will be looking for new places to call home. EACA is working with a private pest control company and the City to determine what rodent mitigation efforts may be done on the property to limit the impact to neighbors during and after the clean-up.

Scrap Tire Round Up - April 13

CHaRM (1110 Hill Street SE) will accept tires from Atlanta residents without any fee on April 13th from 9 am to 12 noon. This event is sponsored by the City Council, Department of Public Works, and the America the Beautiful Commission. NIN Poker Tournament This Weekend

Neighbor in Need is hosting its Annual Spring Poker Tournament taking place on March 23 at The Midway Pub. Your first 300 chips are free, but registration is limited to 50 people. All proceeds benefit Neighbor in Need of East Atlanta, who provides emergency home repairs for low-income elderly homeowners in East Atlanta, allowing them to stay safe and comfortable in their homes.

There is Still Time to Join EACA as a 2019 Member

Show your support for the East Atlanta Community by becoming a 2019 EACA Member. The $10 yearly household membership fee goes right back to the community, funding advocacy for land use, education, and public safety policies important to East Atlanta residents. In addition, you can take advantage of membership perks offered by neighborhood businesses and vote on important issues at monthly EACA Meetings. DeKalb County's Spring Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Event

DeKalb County is hosting a hazardous waste Recycling event on March 16 where DeKalb County residents can dispose of hazardous materials, such as paint and paint-related products, aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, photo chemicals and artist supplies. Normally there is a fee to dispose of these types of materials, but during this event the fee is waived.

APS Kindergarten Round Up Next Week

Atlanta Public Schools Kindergarten Round-Up is an orientation program for rising kindergartners and their parents. It’s an opportunity for parents to register their child for kindergarten and get an early start to a brighter future.
