EACA Meet & Greet at BPA Orchard Birthday Party - April 12

Meet your neighbors and celebrate BPA’s orchard as it turns double digits!

The Burgess-Peterson elementary school orchard is 10 years old and Georgia Organics is hosting a birthday party on Friday, April 12. The garden’s community friends are invited to join the celebration. If you’ve never seen what’s growing at the neighborhood elementary school, this is your chance.

The afternoon kicks off after school with activities for kids, including a mural painting and some seed-bomb making.

For the grownups, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Robby Astrove will give a free class on caring for fruit trees. Robby, aka Ranger Robby at Arabia Mountain park, is a fruit tree expert and EAV resident who led the planting of the orchard a decade ago.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be a community potluck, with garden volunteers cooking up some goodies from the day’s harvest and grilling some veggie burgers. And of course there will be birthday cake! Feel free to bring a dish to share.
