On April 22, East Atlanta is Going Camping

East Atlanta area families don't have to travel far to get the real feel of camping. On April 22, 2017  your East Atlanta Community Association will be sponsoring our third annual campout in conjunction with the Great American Backyard Campout. The campout starts at two on the Saturday, April 22 and finishes at noon on Sunday, April 23rd. Base camp will be at the historic Zuber-Jarell House on Flat Shoals Avenue (you know, the big white house on the corner of Pasley and Flat Shoals).  Built in 1906, the Zuber-Jarell House is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is a steeped in the history of East Atlanta.

Enjoy camping under the night sky, along with backyard games, field activities, discovery stations, and campfire entertainment featuring songs, storytelling, stargazing, and s’mores.  Jenny Murray has also offered a house tour for those wishing to see this historic gem.  We will also have some children’s activities that would have been popular in 1906, when the house was first built.

There will also be an adults-only camping area.  Dinner and Breakfast included in the event.  This is a great way to introduce all ages to camping and the great outdoors.  No tent?  Please let us know as we have some spare tents to borrow.

This event is hosted by East Atlanta Community Association in support of the National Wildlife Federation's Be Out There campaign, an annual effort encouraging East Atlantaians (and surrounding neighborhoods) to experience the outdoors and connect with nature and their neighbors.  A huge thanks to Jenny Murray and Marc Dobiecki for opening up their house and yard for this event. We greatly appreciate it!
