Neighbor in Need is hosting its Annual Spring Poker Tournament taking place on March 23 at The Midway Pub. Your first 300 chips are free, but registration is limited to 50 people. All proceeds benefit Neighbor in Need of East Atlanta, who provides emergency home repairs for low-income elderly homeowners in East Atlanta, allowing them to stay safe and comfortable in their homes.
Join EACA at the first neighborhood meet and greet of the year this Saturday March 23 at Midway Pub. Meet new neighbors, hang with old friends, grab some nibbles and maybe even win a free drink in our raffle. We look forward to seeing you there!
Bring your old electronics to the 3rd Annual EAV Electronics Recycling event taking place this Saturday, March 23 10am-1pm at the EAV Farmers Market spot. Presented by In Atlanta Realtors, the event will feature snacks for the kids, some puppy love with Paws Atlanta and a prize drawing. All are welcome!
The Burgess-Peterson elementary school orchard is 10 years old and Georgia Organics is hosting a birthday party on Friday, April 12. If you’ve never seen what’s growing at the neighborhood elementary school, this is your chance. This event is open to everyone in the community and will have activities for all age levels; including a mural painting and seed-bomb making for the kiddos, a free class on caring for fruit trees for the adults, and closes with a community potluck with birthday cake.
You are invited to attend EACA’s March meeting on Tuesday, March 12 at 7pm. During the meeting attendees can hear updates from EACA committees, hear from a Bird scooter rep, hear about the latest development projects, details on neighborhood events, and members will vote on land use, zoning, and alcohol license applications.
Show your support for the East Atlanta Community by becoming a 2019 EACA Member. The $10 yearly household membership fee goes right back to the community, funding advocacy for land use, education, and public safety policies important to East Atlanta residents. In addition, you can take advantage of membership perks offered by neighborhood businesses and vote on important issues at monthly EACA Meetings. Memberships can be processed online or in person at monthly EACA Meetings.
DeKalb County is hosting a hazardous waste Recycling event on March 16 where DeKalb County residents can dispose of hazardous materials, such as paint and paint-related products, aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, photo chemicals and artist supplies. Normally there is a fee to dispose of these types of materials, but during this event the fee is waived.
Neighbor in Need is partnering with ASW Distillery for our first Whiskey Giveback event hosted on April 18th where a percentage of all alcohol and ASW product sales will be donated to Neighbor in Need East Atlanta! Get into the "spirit" of charity and sample some fine Atlanta whiskeys at ASW Distillery while supporting long-term, low-income neighbors in EAV.
Do you know of any little ones who will turn the ripe old age of 5 before Sept. 1, 2019? If so, please help us to “round them up.”
