On October 2, 2017, my colleagues and I unanimously voted to decriminalize the possession of less than an ounce of marijuana in the City of Atlanta. The ordinance 17-O-1152, changed the penalty for charges made by the Atlanta Police, for anyone charged with the possession of less than an ounce of marijuana from a fine of up to $1000 and up to six months in jail, to a maximum fine of $75 and no jail time.  I want to thank the many constituents who have contacted me regarding these changes. Your voice is important to me.

Please join me at the annual 5th District Scrap Tire Recycling Event on October 14th from 9am to 1pm located at CHaRM, Center for Hard to Recycle Materials, 1110 Hill Street S.E., Atlanta, GA 30315. I am partnering with the Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission, the City of Atlanta, and the Department of Public Works to help clean our environment by asking you to bring your scrap tires for FREE disposal. Getting rid of scrap tires around your home will help eliminate mosquito breeding sites in our community. Only car tires and light duty truck tires will be accepted. Tires with rims and large truck tires will not be accepted.

Recently, I had the pleasure of serving as judge at the East Atlanta Strut. Congratulations to all the winners, and especially to Save Ormewood Forest for being recognized as the best entry in the parade.

Please don’t hesitate to contact my office if you have any city related concerns at: 404-330-6048 or email me at: narchibong@atlantaga.gov.

Sincerely Yours,
Natalyn Archibong
